Introduction

Intrinsically woven into India's tradition & culture, philanthropy has perpetuated itself down the ages. Born in a traditional Marwari family, Kamal Morarka, India's leading industrialist and philanthropist registered. M.R. Morarka-GDC Rural Research Foundation in 1991 in memory of his father Late M.R. Morarka funded by M/s. Gannon Dunkerley & Company Ltd.

The farsightedness, clarity of vision and thought and sound technical knowledge of the founders gave The Foundation humble but firm beginning in 1994. With the rural support programme The Foundation has grown over the years.

Milestone in the pathway…

• Beginning from Nawalgarh, a small town located on the edge of great THAR-DESERT in Rajasthan, India, Morarka Foundation began in 1993-94 covering about 10,000 target populations in Shekhawati.
• By 1995-96, we expanded to cover five Districts in Rajasthan State covering a total population of 100,000 persons.
• In 1997-98, we covered entire Rajasthan and initiated few of our activities in three neighboring States namely, Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh covering about 500,000 population.
• In the year 2000-01, we expanded the scope of our activities to about 15 States in the country i.e. covering North, South, East and West of India to cover about one million populations.
• By the year 2006-07, new collaborations have been established outside India in Nepal, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Malaysia, Costa Rica, England, USA, etc. with addition of new activities and new tie-ups with private sector and technical collaborations with international resource organizations.
